Some of Singapore’s most innovative start up companies and brightest talent were recognised for their home-grown achievements at the Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation SiTF Awards 2015 held during the Infocomm Industry Gala Dinner, held at the Raffles Convention Centre this evening.

A total of 92 finalists were shortlisted from over 300 nominations, with more than 30 innovative products, solutions and applications across 10 categories winning trophies during the Gala Dinner presentations.

Big winners of the night include the Gold award recipient for Best Innovative Infocomm Product (Enterprise) Pocket Trips by LDR – a powerful web-based authoring platform that can enable anyone, anywhere in the world without programming knowledge to create and publish their own location-based mobile apps on mobile devices. The app allows organisations across various industries such as education, tourism, retail and food and beverage to transform learning and customer engagement by telling stories through the mobile trails they create.

Diversity of Winners

The winners represent a wide spectrum of companies with different experiences and backgrounds. LDR was led by CEO Png Bee Hin – a 39 year IT veteran who has spent a large part of his career in the defense industry. Rotimatic was developed by tech start up Zimplistic, founded by entrepreneurs Rishi Irani, previously CTO of TenCube, and Pranoti Nagarkar, who built her expertise studying mechanical engineering. Gamurai was founded by youth entrepreneur Woo Sze Ming, who started his own business in 2010 after graduating from university.

“The awards have certainly given the winners the local recognition and enhanced their visibility to further excel in the global arena. The awards also provide the winners with a platform and unique opportunity to be profiled. They can inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs,” said Ms Shirley Wong, SiTF’s chairman.

“The entries in 2015 were better, more competitive and covered a broader number of solutions. In the public sector, the standard of innovation and the elegant application of technology to derive solutions were highly impressive. We also had a good mix of startups and SMEs in the consumer space. This is a good sign and shows the maturity of our infocomm industry and sophistication of deployment,” said Lim Swee Cheang, Senior Adviser, Institute of Systems Science, National University of Singapore, one of the judges this year.

This year’s SiTF Awards was particularly significant as the federation took the opportunity to celebrate the industry’s success in conjunction with Singapore’s 50th year of nation-building. Many award recipients had been successful in developing products, solutions and applications that were not only innovative in the creative sense but also in their practical use in improving the lives of Singaporeans in both consumer and enterprise segments.

About SiTF Awards

SiTF Awards was inaugurated in 2009 by Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF). This Award, championed by the industry, is an important accolade for made-in Singapore infocomm innovations.

Over the years, besides recognising innovative ICM (Infocomm Media) Applications/Solutions which are developed locally, SiTF Awards has evolved and extend its include recognition to companies which have taken efforts to innovate its business through the adoption of technology.

The judges presiding over this competition are distinguished individuals; amongst them are luminaries of ICM industry, venture capitalists, investors and academia. Nominees who participate in SiTF Awards will receive professional feedback on their projects from the judging panel.

Besides serving as a bedrock for local innovations, SiTF Awards also helps to identify nominations for other important competitions such as the National Infocomm Awards (NIA), which is the national level award for infocomm innovation in Singapore, the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards, and the biennial World Summit Awards (WSA).
